DARKNESS CANNOT SET THE AGENDA

Jesus is not one influence among many. He is the Light through whom life is interpreted.

Darkness may be present, but presence is not authority.

The believer is not called to interpret life from the darkness surrounding them, but from the Light who now governs their life.

Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 8:12 NKJV

That changes the starting point.

We do not begin with darkness.

We begin with Christ.

THE KINGDOM SEQUENCE

JESUS IS THE LIGHT

You are called out of darkness

Your identity changes before your circumstances do

Identity comes before authority

You interpret life from the Light

Darkness cannot set the agenda

1. CHRIST BEFORE DARKNESS

Jesus is not one spiritual influence competing with many others.

He is Lord.

The believer does not need to measure Christ against darkness as though the two stand on equal ground.

Darkness may resist.

Darkness may deceive.

Darkness may still be visible.

But darkness does not become the governing reality simply because it is present.

“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:5 NKJV

The question is no longer merely:

“What is darkness doing?”

The greater question is:

“What has the Light already declared?”

2. IDENTITY BEFORE AUTHORITY

Before asking how much authority you have over darkness, establish who you are in Christ.

Authority does not begin with technique.

It begins with identity.

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”
Colossians 1:13 NKJV

You are not trying to escape darkness so that one day you can belong to the Kingdom.

In Christ, you have already been transferred.

That means the order matters:

Identity before authority.
Christ before darkness.
Light before resistance.

We do not resist darkness because it owns us.

We resist because Christ does.

3. INTERPRET FROM THE LIGHT

This may be one of the most important changes in the believer’s thinking.

Fear interprets God through circumstances.

Faith interprets circumstances through God.

Darkness says:

“Look at what is happening.”

The Light says:

“Look at who I am.”

The believer learns to stop allowing darkness to narrate reality.

Instead of saying:

“What does this situation tell me about God?”

we begin asking:

“What does God tell me about this situation?”

That is a completely different way of living.

REFLECTION

Where have I allowed the presence of darkness to become my interpretation of reality?

Where have I allowed fear, circumstances, spiritual opposition, or confusion to tell me what is true?

And what changes when Jesus becomes the reference point again?

DECLARATION

Jesus Christ is my reference point.

I will not interpret my life from the darkness present.

I will interpret my life from the Light present.

My identity is established in Christ.

My authority flows from Christ.

The Light has arrived.

Darkness cannot set the agenda.
