A Clear Statement on the Spirit Realm, the New Age, and the New Birth
Why the Bible Is Our Foundation
There has been some quiet confusion around my engagement with New Agers, occult thinkers, and spiritually curious people. Some have wondered whether proximity means influence — whether dialogue means agreement.
So I want to state this plainly, calmly, and without ambiguity.
This is what I believe — and this is why the Bible remains my foundation.
The Spirit Realm Is Real — but Not All Spirituality Is Life
I believe the spirit realm is real.
I believe spiritual experiences outside Christianity are real.
I believe encounters, power, knowledge, and manifestations can occur apart from Christ.
Scripture affirms this without hesitation.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age.” — Ephesians 6:12
But here is the distinction that must be made:
Not all spiritual experience is participation in eternal life.
Spiritual sensitivity is not the same as spiritual regeneration.
Before the Resurrection, Power Existed — but Life Did Not Reign
Before the resurrection of Jesus, the spirit realm contained real hierarchies:
Angels and fallen angels
Principalities and powers
Human spirits, living and dead
Power existed.
Experiences were real.
Knowledge was guarded.
Fear and sacrifice were common.
Yet humanity was not clothed in God.
“Death reigned from Adam to Moses.” — Romans 5:14
Power existed — but death still governed.
This is the world occult systems accurately perceive — and tragically remain within.
The Resurrection Did Not Upgrade the Old System — It Replaced It
The resurrection of Jesus was not Him becoming the strongest spiritual being.
It was the introduction of an entirely new order of life.
“Christ being raised from the dead dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.” — Romans 6:9
Eternal life is not survival.
It is a different kind of life altogether.
“I am the resurrection and the life.” — John 11:25
This life is not accessed through knowledge, initiation, or power —
it is received through new birth.
What It Means to Be Born Again
Being born again is not becoming more spiritual.
It is becoming alive in a way you were not before.
“Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3
Birth is not education.
Birth is not awakening.
Birth is the beginning of a new existence.
“You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” — Ephesians 2:1
We Are Not All Participating in the Same Spirit Realm
This is where much confusion enters.
Scripture shows that two realities now exist side by side:
A spiritual realm that is real but passing away
A resurrected life that is eternal and incorruptible
“The world is passing away, and the lust of it.” — 1 John 2:17
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — 1 John 5:12
This is not a matter of perspective.
It is a matter of life source.
Why Scripture Speaks of Clothing, Armour, and Covering
The Bible repeatedly uses the language of clothing for a reason.
“Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.” — Romans 13:14
“Put on the new man.” — Ephesians 4:24
“Put on the whole armour of God.” — Ephesians 6:11
This armour is not symbolic bravado.
It is the difference between authority and exposure.
“When this corruptible has put on incorruption… then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’” — 1 Corinthians 15:54
Without Christ, the spirit remains uncovered.
With Christ, the believer is clothed with life.
Why the Occult Always Has a Cost
Occult systems require:
Protection rituals
Guides
Exchanges
Sacrifice
Fear management
Because power without life always extracts payment.
Scripture speaks soberly about this:
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” — John 10:10
By contrast, Jesus says:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” — John 10:10
Two sources.
Two outcomes.
Why I Engage With New Agers and Occultists
I speak with them because:
They already know the spirit realm is real
They already know power exists
They already sense something is missing
What is missing is life.
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” — John 1:4
I am not learning from the occult.
I am explaining the line Scripture draws clearly.
Why the Bible Is Essential for Discernment
Someone recently asked me:
“Should I read the Bible to discern what is true?”
My answer was simple:
How else will you know?
“Your word is truth.” — John 17:17
“The entrance of Your words gives light.” — Psalm 119:130
Discernment is not instinct.
It is formed by truth.
This Is Not Syncretism — It Is Distinction
I do not believe Christianity is one spiritual path among many.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
New creation means:
New life
New source
New order
Not a repaired old system.
My Conviction, Stated Simply
The spirit realm is real
Not all spirituality is life
The resurrection changed the order of reality
Eternal life comes only through new birth
Without Christ, the spirit remains exposed
With Christ, authority replaces vulnerability
This is what I believe.
This is why I teach.
This is why Scripture remains my foundation.
“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 3:11
